Inessa P. relieved her intense inflammation over 4 years ago by juicing every day. After trying multiple juicers, including a restaurant-grade machine, her Kuvings EVO820 gave her the best juice for her buck.
Why I juice
My inflammation was so bad and I had no idea what to do. I couldn't walk, I couldn't hold a cup, I couldn't do anything. I think part of it was because of inflammation from lupus. I had lots of pain in my body for a year and a half. I started to lose hair, I was sluggish all the time. It was horrible.
So this was my turning point: I took my daughter to Disneyland, and I spent an enormous amount of money for the tickets. I couldn't go on any rides; I couldn't walk. So I sat. And I spent close to a thousand dollars.
I couldn’t sleep; I was so upset. I was like, "I'm not even 50 years old. This is ridiculous." That's the night I went online and started googling.
I was researching, and everybody was on this celery juice bandwagon, so I got on. My inflammation went down, and I started feeling better, and then I started juicing other things because I don't have time to eat so many vegetables and fruits.
Besides juicing, I went vegan completely, so in 3 months I started to feel my inflammation go down, and by 6 months I felt completely different. I'm still juicing celery every morning.
A bump in the road
My other juicer broke, so I had to buy a part. When I found out how much the part cost, I said, "there is no way."
In the meantime, I bought a commercial juicer from a restaurant supply store. That didn't work at all. And they wouldn't take it back because it was opened. I used it for one hour.
And then I bought a couple blade juicers too, which was a waste of my time. It's not a juicer, it's more of a food processor. I can't believe they call it a juicer. Because the centrifuge is so fast, it spreads everything on the sides. It never goes down. It was a waste, really a waste. I was disappointed.
Switching to Kuvings
I looked on the internet, and Kuvings advertisements came up. I checked the back part of it, how much it would cost if it breaks, what do I have to replace, and what's the warranty. I didn't want to buy something that's not going to last, and I wanted to make sure that I yielded enough juice to sustain what I'm doing. I took a chance, really.
But, it's great. It's really one of the best juicers in the price range. It's easy to clean, easy to use—you won't have any problems. It's a workhorse, and that's important when you juice everyday.
What I love about my juicer
When you juice every day it has to be convenient. And if it's not convenient then people usually give up and put it away. That's the issue. It has to be easy to clean.
I love Kuvings because of a few things, but the main reason is its cleaning. Your cleaning is so much easier. It's the way it's designed where it comes out. It's easier to clean, it's easier to take apart—the other one would get stuck all the time. And it's so much easier to juice.
The citrus attachment is awesome. We have a lot of citrus in Arizona, so we juice it all the time. I juice and I freeze the juice in cubes. It’s very little and it's really powerful, so I love it.
Cooking has always been my forte. My Kuvings juicer is probably one of the best tools that I have, because I can juice, and I can still use the rest of it.
When I juice celery, carrots, or beets, I use the rest of whatever's left over for soup broth. When I bake, I use the juice for coloring. Plus I have dogs, so everything that's left over from the juicer I bake for them.
I went to Italy two years ago for cooking school. I juiced there. Every time they made broth I laughed because I use celery pulp and other pulp for broth.
You can do a lot of things if you just get into it. I make a lot of face masks from pulp.
I use my juicer fully, 100%. And my juicer is there everyday for me. There are a lot of things you can do—it's endless possibilities. My dogs love it, too.
Spreading the love
My daughter likes fruit juice. She's not big on beet juice, but...I hide a lot of things. She has no idea what I'm putting in. All the green stuff that she doesn't like I usually stick in her juice.
But I am not gonna tell her either. She won't eat it otherwise. She has to eat half a pound of salad in order to get those benefits. I know she's not going to do it, and it takes time. I won't do it either. I can juice it easily, and everything that I need is there.
I do a lot of catering, so I use my juicer all the time. Mixed drinks are what the customers love. And everybody who comes over to drink goes, "My god!" It's awesome.
Feeling healthier than ever
I'm older now than I was, but I feel fantastic. I still eat vegetables and fruit, but juicing is a lot faster than chewing all the time. You get everything that you want in one shot, and then you're done.
By juicing, you solve a lot of problems—your skin problems, your hair problems. Once you start juicing everything just goes away. You feel better.
You have to take care of your body, especially after your 40s. We're all declining. The main thing is eating right. And it's hard to do when you're young because you don't have time or you don't have money. But the sooner you get on that wagon the better it's going to be.
You are what you eat, so health comes from inside out. You can work out as much as you want, but if you don't eat right it's not going to show.
Extras (Don’t read/use)
It's a lot of money, but I didn't want to buy something that's not gonna last. So to me it was important. Like I said, I checked the back part of it, how much would it cost if it breaks, what do I have to replace, and what's the warranty. So i didn't have any concerns, really. And I wanted to make sure that I yielded enough juice to sustain what I'm doing. And it was good. I took a chance, really, because there was not that many reviews at that point. I guess that I didn't even know about it. But, it's great. I wish I wouldn't have bought all the Hurom for everybody else.
It's really one of the best juicers in the price range. It's easy to clean, easy to use, you won't have any problems. That's the most important thing. It's a workhorse, and that's important when you juice everyday.
In the midst of that I broke my foot. So I couldn't cook as much; I had to stand on one foot. But juicing is easy. You juice and clean and you're done. So it did help me tremendously. If I wouldn't have juiced I had no idea what I would have done. I would have probably eaten junk and I can't do that.
Everybody tries to sell you things, but support is the most important thing.
So then I looked on the internet. Kuvings advertisements came up, so I called customer support.
I go, “I want to know what the parts cost. What if something happens and I need to replace the parts?” When you spend that much money you wanna know. And with me juicing all the time, it's going to happen, because it's not normal use.
So he goes, “this is how much.” And I go, “Okay, that sounds good. Then he told me about the sale, and I bought it.
So far I haven't had a problem. And I use it every day.
I mean, cucumber water--your cucumber water is fantastic. I used to blend it. When you blend it's no pieces left. But when you do cucumber water with you, it's perfect. So I take everything out, I stick mint in, and it's fantastic. So I do a lot of things.
To me, the most important thing when you juice every day is how much juice you're going to get out. Because I have to juice a lot, and that was my main reason for buying the juicer.
So that's how I end up getting hooked on it. It's really good stuff. This is my third juicer, and I hope this is the last one.
I never stopped juicing. I juiced everyday for 4 1/2 years and I haven't stopped 1 day---well if I don't juice I have to eat it. and I do that. Religiously. That's like becoming a day after day thing.
